Membership
Sign up now for your membership! Your membership card will allow you to participate in all senior citizen programs at the new Senior Center at the Rowser Complex. Membership is for ages 55+; membership term is January 1-December 31. Membership applications are available at The Rowser Building. No charge for Stafford residents; $25 for Non-Stafford residents (prorating not available). For more information, please call 658-7109.
Wednesday Movies Join us at Rowser for a wonderful time of fellowship and “big-screen” movie entertainment! We’ll provide the movie, snacks, and the excitement...you just come and enjoy! There is no charge for this program, but pre-registration is required. Ages 55+; 2-4 PM; Rowser.

Cartooning with Frank Sharpen your pencils and learn how to ‘toon with local cartoonist, Frank Lewis! There is no charge for classes, but you must purchase your own supplies: one large sketch/watercolor pad & plenty of #2 pencils. Registration required; spaces are limited. Sign up with Roseanne Mon/Tue/Wed from 8 AM-4 PM in Room C at Rowser. Ages 55+; Wed; 10 AM-Noon; Rowser.
Line Dancing Put on your dancing shoes and have a great time learning to line dance! Your friendly instructor will guide you through a dance routine. Music will include country, 50’s, polka, and many more. Pre-registration & membership required. Ages 55+; Wed, 11 AM-Noon; Rowser Room B.
Ceramics & Crafts Join us each Monday, Tuesday, & Wednesday 8 AM-4 PM at Rowser to work on your ceramics and craft projects, share your craft ideas, and socialize. Those who attend are encouraged to supply their own equipment; we have kilns for firing. Our craft instructor, Roseanne Manganelli, will be on hand to assist.
Intro to Watercolors Have you ever wanted to know how to paint with watercolors? Our instructor, Roseanne, will be at Rowser on Mon/Tue/Wed from 8 AM-4 PM to help you get started. This class is free to members, but you will need to furnish your own supplies. Pre-registration required.
Weekly Brunch Join your friends and enjoy the food and fun at brunch! It’s held every Thursday at 11 AM at Rowser. Volunteers will prepare all of the food onsite, and the menu will vary from week to week. Come before the meal and play cards, games, or pool; work on crafts; or just visit! $4; registration required one week prior.
Mahjong We’re looking for some friendly, new faces to join our group for some great games of Mahjong! Experienced players and beginners who want to learn the game are welcome. Ages 55+; Thu, 1 PM; Room C at Rowser.
Gym Walking Would you like to walk in a safe and dry location? Then come to the Courthouse Community Center Gym on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays and join our walking group! This is an ongoing program, so you may register anytime. The class is free, but pre-registration is required. All ages; 8:30-9:30 AM; no walking 5/28.
Senior Citizen Prom Join the fun—jazz band, delicious food, & door prizes! Transportation is available upon request. Sponsored by North Stafford High School’s FCCLA; Sat, 3/10; North Stafford High School; 3-6 PM. Please call 658-6150 for more information.
Aikido for Seniors This form of martial arts involves good exercise, having fun, testing the limits, and learning new ways to think and move. Aikido teaches stretching, postural improvement, and deep breathing and helps students develop mental, physical, and spiritual integration. All participants must pre-register one week prior to session. Ages 55+; Wed, 6:30-7:30 PM; $5 one-time registration; Rowser; deadline one week prior.

Conversational
Italian I, II, & III Are you planning a trip to Italy or just want to learn how to speak Italian? Listen and learn basic words or phrases so you will be able to converse with an Italian speaker. Class III will be an extension of Class II. Ages 55+; Rowser; $75; deadline 1 week prior.

Newsletter We publish a monthly newsletter especially for senior citizens! It’s available free of charge at Rowser, or you can have it mailed to your home for $5 year for Stafford residents and $8/year for non-Stafford residents.
Thursday Afternoon
Card Sharks Join other “card sharks” and fill your Thursday afternoons with excitement and fun! Play whatever you like...Rummy, Bridge, or just sit back & enjoy! Lots of fun for everyone! Ages 55+; begins at Noon on Thursdays after brunch at Rowser.
St. Patty’s Day Luncheon It’s that time of year again when everything is turning green… including the Senior Center! You’re invited to come to this holiday luncheon to enjoy great food, games, and prizes! Be sure to wear your green and receive a special prize! Ages 55+; 3/15; 11 AM; Rowser; $4; deadline 1 week prior.
Annual Ham Dinner Join the party and enjoy a scrumptious ham dinner and all the trimmings! This dinner, sponsored by the Senior Citizen Council, will also include live entertainment. Tickets must be purchased by 4/6; tickets will not be sold at the door. Ages 55+; 4/19; 5 PM; Rowser; $4. Please make checks payable to S. C. Kitty Fund.
May Flowers Luncheon Welcome another new summer with our May Flowers Luncheon! Come see all the wonderful colors of May as we enjoy a delicious lunch. After lunch, enjoy a rousing game of bingo for a chance to win great prizes. Be sure to wear your best floral outfit to be eligible for a special prize! Ages 55+; 5/17; 11 AM; Rowser; $4; deadline 1 week prior.
AARP Drivers’ Safety Course Freshen up on your driving skills and knowledge in this two-day class. You will learn how to become a safer driver, and you will save money on your auto insurance. Sponsored by the AARP, the friendly, knowledgeable instructor will guide you through this course in a fun, casual atmosphere. Ages 55+; 4/10-4/11; 9 AM-1 PM; Rowser; $10; deadline until full. Checks only; make payable to AARP.
Sr. Citizen Council This Council is a group of volunteers who have been elected by their peers, and their purpose is to advise Parks and Recreation staff on programming ideas, act as liaisons between senior citizens and the Department, and serve their fellow senior citizens in providing additional activities and services. The Council meets the third Wednesday of each month at 10 AM at Rowser. Non-Council members are welcome to attend the meetings.
Travel Committee If you are a Stafford resident and would like to participate in this focus group, please call 658-7109. The group meets the third Wednesday of each month at 9:30 AM at Rowser before the Council Meeting.
